Ash Wednesday - Killorglin, Ireland
On a day trip to Dingle as we approach Inch, I notice the strand of beach that juts out into Dingle Bay. The side away from where the waves are slashing is lush and wild green with many peaks and valleys. The side facing the waves is tan, with smooth sand which has been receiving the waves since the oceans were made.
From this my mind wandered to a number of thoughts:
- We are like that strand - in some ways refined and smooth and in other ways wild.
- The edge that is smooth is subject to much and repetitive influence.
- The edge that is wild sets down roots and accommodates the influences.
- Both sides comprise the one entity and support each other.
- God is present in both sides. The influence of the lapping or pounding surf that keeps the strand clean and smooth, and the green-growth side which is hope to seeds filled with life’s potential.
- God loves us and loves ALL SIDES of us.
- This moved me to silence.
